In the October of 2016 Thrive, coinciding with the release of the film I, Daniel Blake, organised a Benefit Sanction protest in Stockton-On-Tees High Street. The event was to show solidarity for people who had been wrongfully sanctioned by the Job Centre and to engage with the community on their thoughts as well as how they would like to see the Job Centre change.
Members of the community signed our wall plaque to show their support for our protest and we eventually handcuffed ourselves to the Job Centre railings, which wasn’t met with a positive reaction from the Job Centre. Members of the community also signed our list of reccommendations that we wanted to see changed with the regime.
